This Bushwalking Victoria committee is made up of representatives from clubs.
It has a convener who coordinates its activities and all members are volunteers.

The committee deals with all land management issues affecting the integrity and bushwalking amenity of our natural areas.

It contributes to the formulation of public land management plans and provides additional comment at draft stage and prepares submissions regarding the preservation and integrity of natural areas (recent submissions are available on the What's New page).

Representatives appear at public meetings and review panel hearings as necessary.

The committee has developed a conservation policy.

The committee also plans and coordinates track development, track maintenance and conservation projects.

This group engages in land restoration and conservation projects eg: Tree planting, alpine moss bed repair and various weeding programs. For details contact the Bushwalking Environment Committee Convener

Development and maintenance of tracks is managed by specialist coordinators.

Track Development

Bushwalking Victoria facilitates the development of new walking routes by:

• surveying appropriate routes
• liaising with other community groups who have ideas for new tracks
• negotiating and consulting with public land managers for new tracks to be established
• monitoring the implementation of the Victorian Trails Strategy.

Track Maintenance

Bushwalking Victoria has a specialist track maintenance group which:

• Organises track maintenance work parties to help public land managers maintain tracks in good condition for the benefit of all walkers
• Collects information on track conditions.  To advise Bushwalking Victoria of an issue with walking track, please complete and submit a Track Condition Report Form.
